Hey hey we can’t recommend this night enough. BODY BOX has been going strong for some time now and we’re absolutely mad keen on the line-up this Saturday. Bill Ambrose is BODY BOX’s main man and he played at December’s SUPERDISCO event, where he delivered one my favourite SUPERDISCO sets yet, pulling out absolute disco gold all over the shop. He sure knows his records, and is also one of the loveliest guys ever.
Bill is supported this Saturday by the ever-fabulous PEARL FLASH DJ’s who will no doubt supply their usual left-field disco magic.
Casey Pearl flash dropped a new mix last week – grab it on www.pearlflash.com if you feel so inclined.
Basically, the whole thing is a win and you should totally go.
Lovely job.
Simon.

SUPERDISCO co-founder and resident Simon Smith is also a producer under the name ‘ Reason or Romanza’.
REASON OR ROMANZA’s debut, EP1, was released on 2nd November on the Civil Music imprint and has spent much of the last two weeks in Bleep’s Top 10!
The EP features 4 original tracks plus 4 remixes by, Planet Mu’s Skweee hero Eero Johannes, Boomkats “the singles of the year? Most likely” from Black Arce’s spacey dub new boy Blue Daisy, Loaf Recordings’ fruitcake Batfinks and eclectic Finnish producer Recue.
Bleep say it’s a ‘delicate, surprisingly tender electronica work…shimmers with its own sense of ghostly ambience’, wherea Boomkat go for ‘Instrumental IDM-pop …sharply defined and crisply textured electronic melancholy with folksy flourishes and the odd bout of techno reminding of acts from Bibio to Nathan Fake’ So there you go. Hopefully that’s recommendation enough to have a listen.
It’s widely available in CD and download formats, but we’d like like it best if you got it straight from the label, HERE: http://www.civilmusic.com/buy/ep-105/
There’s also 2 additional remixes available as FREE DOWNLOADS here:
VINCENT OLIVER REMIX: http://www.civilmusic.com/buy/two-times-three-times-free-0/
POSTHUMAN REMIX: http://www.civilmusic.com/buy/seven-uses-of-potential-differen-0/

Somehow we managed to miss reporting anything at all on our last party – which was amazing by the way! We had Fonteyn from Nuke Em All and Pearl Flash DJ’s guest to an even more packed Gold Bar than last time. We even had some great support from Dazed & Confused and Time Out so thanks to them for that and thanks for everyone who came down.
The new flyer will be ready sooooon for the December party.

SUPERDISCO|3rd JULY|GOLD BAR, STOKE NEWINGTON|
We had a final-hour line-up shuffle as we managed to get NATHAN FAKE to join Vincent Oliver for a dj set. Result.
With Mr. Fake on board it goes without saying that it was a full house at the Gold Bar – seeing Fakey in an intimate venue like that isn’t gonna happen very often, seeing as he’s regularly smashing it all over the world at the mintest clubs and festivals like Sonar, which he’d just got back from.
A wizard time was had by all, DJ’s Kiersty and Franz Kirmann were all over it, Jonny and I successfully dodged the endless Michael Jackson requests (only for Franz to later bring the house down with ‘Billie Jean’ as his opener) and we’re bang on booking the next SUPERDISCO events, which’ll be announced soon, which will, of course, be both free and fucking amazing.

Somerset House is quite an apt venue for Grace Jones really. Its palatial grandeur put up a brave fight against Grace’s regular and ostentatious costume changes (one every song). And its acoustics were incredible. I struggle to think of even an indoor show that has sounded quite as lush as tonight.
Apparently Grace Jones packed a big punch in the 80s. But perhaps we shouldn’t dwell on that too much, that’s all in the past now. Tonight Grace seems a much more friendly character than that now infamous interview might have led people to believe. ‘This is a party’ she regularly declares in a mischievous husk. And it was. Disco moments like ‘Pull up to the Bumper’ and the fantastic ‘William’s Blood’ were probably received best but the entire set was one big, rich, funky, sexual groove. Towards the close of the set Grace had her stage invaded by friends and guests who had their very own party onstage.
Grace played songs past and present and was always keen to credit everyone involved. Closer ‘Hurricane’ is the title track from Jones’ most recent album. It was originally recorded in the late 90s but says something about what Grace Jones has done throughout her career. So far they are standing the test of time and still sound new. She’s 61 years young apparently, if you can believe that. This being the case, I can confidently tell you all that is possible for the mature woman to work wonders with a dance pole and a leotard.
